SALEM, MA—Historic Salem, Inc.’s (HSI) Christmas in Salem, thought to be the nation’s longest running holiday house tour, invites visitors to tour historic homes in the Salem Common neighborhood from December 2–4, 2016. In 2016, HSI is proud to announce the addition of local vendors along the Salem Common that will be selling crafts and light fare to add to the festive atmosphere.
Already committed to joining the festivities are Jodi Bee Bakes, Grammys Bakery, Salem Spice, Holly’s Spicy Pickles, Le Crepe, Popped Gourmet Popcorn, Wicked Books, and Beverly Bees. Situated along the west side of Salem Common, the vendors will be selling everything from roasted chestnuts to hot cocoa and apple cider to small gifts for the holidays. HSI respectively reminds its patrons that food and drinks are not allowed inside the private homes. Trash receptacles will be supplied by HSI prior to entering the homes.
The Preview Candlelight Tour (for advance ticket holders only) will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016, from 5:30–8:30 pm and will feature selected homes. On Saturday, December 3 from 10:30 am–4:30 pm and Sunday, December 4 from 11:30 am–4:30 pm all sites will be open for tours.
Christmas in Salem has become far more than a house tour. It’s now a citywide event for both residents and out-of-town visitors. There are local attractions, walking tours, live music, and hotel discounts available for all tour-goers.
This year marks the 37th anniversary of Historic Salem, Inc.’s largest fundraiser. Always held the first weekend in December, Christmas in Salem is a wonderful opportunity to visit one of the region’s most storied city. Christmas in Salem encourages tour-goers to enjoy everything the city has to offer, including local restaurants and shops during the holiday season. A complimentary trolley takes visitors from downtown parking locations to the tour route, providing historical information and a festive ride that will get everyone in the holiday spirit.
Advance prices are $30 each for Historic Salem, Inc., Historic New England and Creative Salem members and $35 each for the general public.
