Tina Moroney, Black Widow Yoga
Tell us a bit about you and what you do?
Black Widow Yoga is an independently-run yoga concept by a Salem yoga teacher named Tina that uses metal music in classes instead of traditional yoga music. Black Widow Yoga aims to challenge your understanding of what yoga means to each individual, and encourages every outsider to harness the energy within that truly connects to doomy and dark music.
What part of your job would you consider creative, and why do you enjoy that part of what you do?
Black Widow Yoga challenges the yoga archetype! Tina brings her fresh and creative take on teaching yoga to a growing community of bad-a** yogis!
How does your creative work contribute to the growth and stability of the Creative Economy?
I love to try something new that attracts different and interesting individuals! Salem is full of fearless people from all types of diverse backgrounds. Black Widow Yoga wants to bring yoga back down to earth- where we can all access it financially and feel welcome!
What’s your favorite part of running/managing a local business?
I love to be my own boss, and bring my passion to others! The Black Widow Yoga community is extremely supportive and loving- I feel grateful everyday when I get to teach. We have all really gotten to know each other, while having open arms to new students!
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?
Class are only $10-12! As someone that has had to stop taking classes for financial reasons (many times), I see the importance of making yoga accessible to everyone.
