City of Peabody’s ethnic and cultural festival to celebrate 36th year on September 8, 2019
Do you like ethnic food? Does your mouth water over dishes many of us can’t even pronounce from far away lands? Maybe some Indian, Greek, Portuguese, Brazilian, Chinese, Irish, or Caribbean? Maybe you have a hankering for apple pie, a dish of fruit, or just want to indulge in a huge ice cream cone? Then Save The Date for Peabody’s 36th Annual International Festival on Sunday, September 8th from 12:00 noon to 5:30 p.m.
You can literally eat your way around the world within 100 yards of Peabody Square. Oh yes, you can find a hot dog, chips, soda, and water too!
The Peabody Chamber of Commerce and Peabody Rotary Club will co-host a beer and wine tent in the North Shore Bank Parking Lot featuring a great selection of beers and wine. Continuous entertainment is provided on two stages throughout the afternoon on Main Street at Washington Street and also on Lowell Street at Foster Street. The Artist’s Galleria will be held under the big tent on Foster Street featuring more than 50 artists from around the North Shore. Each artist has a story to tell and many of the works will be for sale.
This year, Creative Collective is happy to be partnering with the City of Peabody and the International Festival Committee to expand the Artisan Market for the 2019 festival. Creative Collective provides opportunities, support, and resources for those that live, play and work in the creative community. This year we are fortunate to be expanding the offerings and ‘Art in the Moment’ activities while celebrating diversity in creativity and supporting this wildly successful event. Featuring local and visiting artisans and makers featuring a range of handmade goods, the Collective is working on curating a dynamic market in Downtown Peabody. Creative Collective Artisans will be located on Foster Street and the Parking lot at 81 Main Street.
Kid’s Day will take place at the East End Veterans Memorial Park on Walnut Street from 12:00 noon until 5:30 p.m. It will feature several different interactive shows and activities for children, moon bounces, and arts & crafts.
The Progeria Research Foundation’s 18th Annual International Race for Research takes place on Saturday, September 7th at Leather City Common. “The Community support is so heartwarming,” says PRF Executive Director Audrey Gordon. “I hope everyone in Peabody and the surrounding cities and towns can come experience the warmth and passion everyone brings to the race and the rush of excitement as runners cross the finish line.” This event is co-sponsored by North Shore Bank and includes a 5k road race and 2-mile fun walk. Check-in starts at 7:45 a.m. and the race kicks off at 9:00 a.m. To register online visit www.prfroadrace.org.
