Dan has always been drawn towards the ‘maker’ life. He began his creative path on the north shore of Boston, MA in 2010, where he attended Montserrat College of Art. Followed by certifications at the Homestead Woodworking School and further education at the Massachusetts Furniture Institute, Dan has been able to translate his love of creating and building one-of-a-kind furniture pieces and collections into a full-time career.

What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community?

Dan founded Solid Roots Woodworking in 2014 in Salem, Ma. Through Solid Roots’ commissions and community involvement on the North Shore, Dan has been able to be a part of incredibly fulfilling interior and exterior design projects – adorning homes, back yards, galleries and more with customized furniture that balances traditional woodworking with a flair for the original.

What was the last book you read OR What was the last video you watched that made an impact on you?

Game of Thrones, everything. I am in deep.

What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?

My son thinks I make a great elephant impression.
