Christmas in Salem, thought to be the nation’s longest running holiday house tour, invites visitors to tour historic homes in the Downtown and McIntire neighborhood from December 1–3, 2017. Homes will be beautifully decorated for the holiday season and will be open for tours throughout the weekend.

  1. 7 of everyone’s favorite neighborhoods in Salem have been featured – McIntire Downtown, Derby Street, North Salem, South Salem, the Common, and the Willows.
  2. Experience how other Salem families celebrate the holiday spirit! Each home is decorated to fit the homeowner’s personality allowing us to include a variety of faiths. Of the 10 homes on the tour this year, we have a variety of decor, including Christmas, Hanukkah, and even a house decorated with Hogwarts in mind!
  3. We’re in the 38th year of Christmas in Salem! This one of a kind chance to visit historic homes in Salem was started by Historic Salem & the Visiting Nurses Association of the North Shore in 1979.
  4. More than 100 homes have been featured! From stately mansions to coastal cottages, from the old Salem police station to traditional townhouses, you can encounter all styles of homes in this marvelously historic city.
  5. More than 2,000 guests have made it possible for Historic Salem, Inc. to advocate for historic buildings year round. Because of people like you, we will be able to showcase historic, well-preserved homes for many years to come!
