I worked down the coast through Manchester to Salem
and Marblehead—these
last two the absolute nuclei and quintessences of the American colonial
tradition.  Salem—the town
of Hawthorne holds many a relic of the 1692 witchcraft; whilst Marblehead is
the most unchanged colonial town in the United States—narrow, curving, hilly
streets, unpaved and sidewalkless, and brown, crumbling lines of quaint houses
which have stood unaltered since the early 1700s.

Getting closer! Big debut of my stuff in Salem this Saturday, longer exhibit in June.
