In your words… Tell us about your organization, business, initiative.

How We Haven is an interior design company that specializes in educating and coaching women on how to decorate a room from start to finish. We have created a digital course that teaches women the process we take when designing a room. This is a self-paced 6-week fun, creative and stress free course. It’s delivered via video, PDF’s and lots of our resources including, checklists, cheat sheets and bonuses.

The Haven Design Team is there supporting its students each day via a private FB group, office hours and live zoom calls. Our goal is to build your design confidence so you can create your own haven!

Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.

We are a sisters-in-law duo! We love design and have been in the industry for many years. We enjoy working one on one with clients but, ideally feel we could service more women if we created a course. The Haven Design Academy was born in 2021. We believe interior design and decorating can be taught.

Our goal is to educate and empower busy moms/women. We want them to create the haven they deserve regardless of their limited time, energy, resources, or their economic status. We truly feel every woman deserves a home that is joyful and peaceful. We want every woman to feel proud of her home and find comfort after a long day.

Our goal is to guide, teach and support through the course and allow them to get their creative juices flowing.

What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community? OR your community in general.

How We Haven feels design and decorating is a creative outlet and skill that CAN be taught and cultivated. Each space has its own personality and creative elements. We have a creative process we take when designing every space including commercial or residential. Our course will promote and support this creativity.

We believe a creative community is important to allow people to not only see their craft and skill but to get support from like-minded people in a course setting. Our main initiative it to find women who are interested in making creative changes to their home and help them to harness the skill and then support the through the process.

What was the last book you read that made an impact on you?

If you are interested in learning the exact steps in creating a successful membership or digital course Stu McLaren’s “Tribe” and educational material including videos and resources are exceptional! The Haven team has spent many hours working with Stu and using his resources as guide to build our business.

What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?

The duo at How We Haven (Wendy and Lyndsay) are self-taught interior designers. We have no formal design education. It’s for this reason that we know our process works!!

We were once just like every confused woman out there. So, we decided to do something about it and created The Haven Design Academy.

Another fun fact is that we both love our dogs A LOT. They are named Fonzi, Duncan, and Piper-Lou. We admittedly like our dogs better than some people!
