LIKEMIND DESIGN – AMANDA BEARD GARCIA (CO-FOUNDER/PRINCIPAL)
In your words… Tell us about your organization, business, initiative.
Likemind Design is a custom mural, branding, and design studio based north of Boston, MA. We were founded in 2019 with a mission to elevate the brands of small, independently-owned businesses just like us.
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.
I’m a muralist, illustrator, and brand designer, and being actively involved in the local arts community has fueled me both personally and professionally. I love talking shop: advocating the importance and practicality of art and design, trading tips with peers, encouraging younger students to pursue a fulfilling career, and pushing to overturn the starving artist stereotype. The arts should be accessible to everyone.
What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community? OR your community in general. (Bonus! Why do you think a more creative community is important?)
A visual identity is one of the most important investments a brand can make in communicating its mission, values, and public perception. Each unique local business contributes to the impact of our greater community and should be celebrated accordingly. A distinctive logo or large-scale custom art piece leaves a lasting impression that friends and patrons will want to parade around with enthusiasm. We can help with that!
What was the last book you read that made an impact on you?
Hamilton. I’ve watched and listened to it countless times since it was digitally released, but who hasn’t?!
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?
I was born and raised in Beverly and currently live and operate out of Woburn. Both cities’ colors are black and orange — these are a staple of Likemind’s branding, too!
