What started off as a nocturnal passion for homebrewing between three friends, quickly turned into a remarkable independently run business. Rob Burns, Mike O’Mara and Michael Oxton started Night Shift Brewing on the mindset of “create better,” and that is exactly what they did.
Night Shift opened their doors in Everett MA, for the first time in 2012. Since then they have brought us a long list of crafted beverages that seems to get better every year. Not only do they brew craft beer, today they bring us hard seltzers, hard ciders and craft coffees; a variety that will satisfy everyone’s palate.
Knowing how important product quality and freshness is to their customers, Night Shift went the extra mile and created Night Shift Distributing. Creating their own distribution channel, Night Shift was able to disrupt todays monopolistic MA wholesaler landscape and now has a portfolio that includes everything from craft beers, wine and spirits to non-alcoholic beverages.
“We are a proudly independent business – our three founders collectively own just over 80% of the business, with the remaining 20% owned by close friends and family. We maintain a relentless focus on three values – inclusivity, integrity, and innovation”
Today Night Shift not only operates its two locations (Everett and Boston MA), coordinates their Owl’s Nest beer gardens, but distributes beer throughout Massachusetts and select areas of New York; all to bring us delicious quality beverages. Stop in for a drink or take some to go and you will see why Night Shift Brewing is so special to this community!
Bennington Oatmeal Stout with Cocoa and Maple Syrup 7.3% abv
Night Shift decided to name this stout after “one of the best towns in Vermont to snag some fresh syrup… Bennington,” and describe it as “a deep dark oatmeal stout with dutch-processed cocoa and maple syrup”
They aren’t lying! This dark, almost black oatmeal stout pours smooth with a nice tan head. Being able to smell the strong but delightful aromas of chocolate, oats and maple from the moment you crack the can, makes for a sweet blend the moment it hits your palate. Although it may not be the smoothest mouthful, you can really taste the roasted malts, chocolate and the sweet maple finish. Although they suggest to enjoy this stout on a crisp fall day, these long and cold quarantine months seem like a perfect fit!
Gold & Delicious Hard Cider 5% abv
They did it again. This past march, Night Shift released a new line of alcoholic beverages; hard cider. “Gold & Delicious is the inaugural flavor in our new line of hard cider.”
Night Shift Brewing has partnered with local New England apple orchards to create and bring us the freshest local craft cider. This cider is “simple, refreshing, never from concentrate — as good as gold;” Oh it’s also gluten free!
This hard cider is definitely delicious, golden delicious that is. With a clear, greenish-yellow tint, you can not only see but smell the juicy apple aromas when pouring this hard cider. It has a fizz that’s crisp, refreshing, and finishes smooth; and dare I say it kind of has a champagne taste, but we all know I’m no expert, haha. This hard cider is great to have with friends or with your lunch tomorrow afternoon.
