Last weekend, FunDead Publications and Witch City Wicks partnered for a first-time Salem event, the Sinister & Sweet Candlelit High Tea. Featuring a completely vegan menu made by FunDead’s own Laurie Moran, and exceptional Blood Orange Tea from Jolie Tea Co., guests were invited to partake of the incredible spread while enjoying the gothic chic aesthetic of Witch City Wicks’ new space on Essex Street.

As patrons entered, they were treated to bottomless ‘Nectar of the Blood Moon’ Sangria and the option to enjoy private shopping of FunDead Publications works and The Cemeterrarium pieces in the adjoining Moonbaby Salem storefront, while also having access to the full line of Witch City Wicks products, after hours. At 9pm, guests were served ‘Lady Bathory’s Tea’, and partook of the abundant vegan delights, including black rose cupcakes, crimson petit fours, charcoal finger sandwiches, and dark chocolate dipped pumpkin truffles. The full menu can be viewed in the Facebook event page, where the caterer plans to share all her recipes for those wishing to try their hand at these delicious vegan treats.

While guests dined, Amber Newberry, writer and Editor-in-Chief of FunDead Publications, read a short horror story to set the mood for an evening of elegance and horror. Attendees were then invited to have their tea leaves read as a complimentary treat!

To round out the night, guests were each given a goodie bag featuring exclusive FunDead Publications content, and a limited edition Blood Orange candle from Witch City Wicks. They were also invited to take home their teacup and saucer as a special gift, while the centerpieces (handmade from up-cycled tea cups by Liz Frazier, Sara Kurpeski, Amelia Kurpeski, and Laurie Moran) were raffled off to one lucky person from each table.

The Sinister & Sweet Candlelit High Tea proved to be a magical night for all involved, and the joint effort from Witch City Wicks, Moonbaby Salem, Death Follows, and FunDead Publications resulted in a resplendent evening that may soon become an annual October event for Salem.
