1. FRANK, 112 Rantoul St. Beverly
Too crowded in Salem? Enjoy all that local farms on the North Shore have to offer, prepared for you by James Beard award winning Chef Frank McClelland. Chef Frank was farm-to-table before it was “foodie.” When he Frank took over Boston’s legendary L’Espalier in 1988, he pioneered a new, more honest approach to food sourcing and cooking, and popularized a hyper local, minimally processed standard for chefs across the country. He forged lifelong relationships with local New England farmers. He sourced the freshest seasonal ingredients, which he boldly prepared and elegantly presented in one of the world’s most celebrated restaurants.
Today, that same ethos continues with FRANK in Beverly: a lower-key but no less vigorous approach to local and season-centric food. With the same farmer-first philosophy and enduring commitment to credible food origin, FRANK is thrilled to offer an ethical and delicious option for everyday eating.

Flip the Bird Fried Chicken, 407 Cabot St., Beverly, 450 Paradise Rd, Swampscott
Voted the North Shore’s best sandwich, Flip the Bird is turning out some of the best fried chicken we’ve ever had. And while you should definitely order fried chicken, don’t overlook the frappes on the menu. Frappes are a local staple (don’t call them milkshakes!) and Flip the Bird has added their own twist with flavors like maple and acai. Warning: if you order the Angry Bird (their spiciest sandwich) definitely wear the gloves that come with it. They are not a joke! Take out only.
Flip the Bird has two locations and you can see food from their menu on Instagram: @ftbfriedchicken
