There are so many things that children do regularly that most adults just don’t Children take ice skating lessons, dance like fools whether there’s music or not, make art and are as proud of it as if they were the world’s most skilled painters and sculptors.
They also build blanket forts.
Over the last few months I’ve been trying to shift my perception towards a world that’s brighter, more colorful, more whimsical. I feel like so much is lost in growing up. We lose a sense of curiosity, of wonder…but we also lose touch with our ability to be unabashedly ourselves.
When Kitty reached out to me about a photoshoot idea, little did I know that the experience would align so perfectly with how I had been feeling. The conversation went something like this:
The day of the shoot, Chimæric and I spent nearly 3 hours constructing the fort inside our apartment. Then Deanna and Rachel came over and we spent another 2 hours whipping up shadow puppets, eye patches, pirate hats, and figuring out costumes.
